Hi!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to start by expressing my gratitude to you — my amazing subscriber.
I started this newsletter with the goal of delivering content that’s relevant and helpful to you. If you have the time and willingness to drop me a few lines, I’d love to hear your feedback, suggestions, and any topic(s) you’d like me to cover in subsequent editions.
This week I’ll spare you from another pep talk about the power of gratitude. Instead, I prefer to pay it forward by sharing six books that shaped my thinking in 2022.
(I don’t get paid to promote them).
Let’s dive straight in!
This an unconventional approach if you’re wondering how to become a thought leader and the king/queen of a niche.
Key quote:
“The big secret to becoming a legendary writer, creator, entrepreneur, or builder in the world is that your goal is not to play the “better” game and strive to be a newer, faster, smarter version of what everyone else is. Your goal is to be a DIFFERENT type of writer altogether”.
Hands down the best book you’ll find about how to write engaging content for social media, newsletters, blogs, etc.
Key quote:
“There are two types of writers today: those who use data to inform and improve their writing and those who fail”.
This a great source if you’re trying to take your existing skills and strengths in a new direction.
Key quote:
"It's about small steps, not big leaps—and the answer is already right under your feet"
If you’re looking to reinvent your existing job with design-thinking frameworks.
Key quote:
“The mind-sets are: curiosity, bias to action, reframing, awareness, radical collaboration, and—the bonus—storytelling.”
If you want to undertake an audacious personal project and don’t know where to start, this book is short, fun, and practical.
Key quote:
"Life is short. Start doing something that matters. Something thrilling, important and daunting."
This is one of my favorite books ever! This book is a collection of real stories of people who sought the answer to the ultimate question. It’s filled with insights and wisdom.
Key quote:
“People who had been through a lot reported that they changed their life, or got clarity when they became conscious of what kind of person a certain job/industry/lifestyle was turning them into.”
As always, thanks for reading, and Happy Thanksgiving!
